This poem is for my children,
though they’ve not yet been conceived.
I hope that they will listen.
I hope that they believe.
Though they’ve not yet been conceived,
I am so proud of them.
I know they will achieve
and be diamonds amongst gems.
I am so proud of them
but most for who they are—
kind and gentle friends,
but dangerous in war.
But most for who they are—
I pray they will not grieve
or carry any scar
when it’s my time to leave.
I pray they will not grieve,
kind and gentle friends…
I am so proud of them.
This poem is for my children.
